To all the phones I've loved before (or not)

Check out the photo arrangement over there ------> (in the sidebar) -----> I've put together a collage of phones and gadgets that I've used in the past. Some I liked others I didn't. If you want to know my opinion on any of them, ask.

seriously, what's your opinion on my phone? I had it out at my dept's dinner on Friday and they were playing with it and the comment was "this isn't a phone". Why are they making a big deal of a phone that's over a year old? I like it, it's small, though I know it's overpriced.

My second question, oh phone guru, is can I take the phone with me to the US? Man, I'm gonna bug you about phone stuff if/when I get over there. :P

p.s. love your banner pic, nice website, you're becoming a fully fledged blogger, hehe.

p.p.s. did I tell you which model my phone is? I'm a dork. Nokia 7280.

I've always said that I prefer Nokia phones above all others. Although I haven't used this particular "fashion" phone, I would venture to say that it holds a particular standard. Since it is a GSM phone you will be able to make phone calls in the states as a roamer. Here's the tricky part, most phones are locked by the service provider, meaning that you can't take the phone they sold you and buy service with another provider. So if your phone is locked then you'll probably end up buying a new one here. Even though this phone came out in 1Q 2005, in "phone years" that's alot of time. My "fashion" phone recommendations: Moto RAZR (Black) and Sony Ericsson S710a.

actually, I bought the phone direct from Nokia and I have no lock-in period for my provider -- competition is intense here so any provider that locks people in tend to be unpopular. There's still enough novelty factor for this phone for me to sell it and then buy one in the US. I'll see ... I should stop these "planning", they haven't made their decision yet.
